Rebecca "Becky" Montgomery

Rebecca Jane Montgomery, 61, of Beaumont passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014. Rebecca was born June 14, 1953 in Corpus Christi, TX to Donald and Viola Montgomery. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1971 and later received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Lamar University of Beaumont. Rebecca retired from Port Arthur Independent School District after 22 years of service. She was passionate about her career and the children she taught. She enjoyed buying gifts for others, visiting and cooking for her family and friends. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother and aunt. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy who she loved dearly.

Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents, Donald Lee Montgomery and Viola Poteet Montgomery and a sister, Patricia Ann Seale. She is survived by her son, Monty Werner and his wife Gina of Beaumont; daughter, Amanda Slaydon and husband Trey of San Augustine, TX; brother, Grover Mann Jr. of Corpus Christi; sister, Pamela Flowers of Vidor; grandchildren, Libby Slaydon, Tricia Slaydon, Austin Ruzik, Brennon Ruzik, Ava Werner, Brooklyn Werner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A Life Celebration will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2014 at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
