Mary LouAnna Romero, 99, of Groves TX, passed away on August 29, 2024. She was born on June 7th, 1925 in Welsh, La to the late Artelus and Eumea Stroder. As a young girl, she worked hard in the fields of the farm she and her family lived on. She was the right hand to her father, who was blind. LouAnna attended Welsh High School in Louisiana where she played on the girls’ basketball team and found her love of home economics. She was married to Curtis Louis Romero on May 6, 1944. The couple remained married until Curtis’ passing in 2012.
LouAnna was a homemaker and loved sewing, quilting, and crochet. Also, reading books in her spare time, bowling, and playing cards. Mrs. Romero was a very faithful parishioner at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where she served as Eucharistic minister and volunteered on bingo nights. LouAnna was also involved with the Altar Society. She loved dancing, went shrimping regularly, attended regular breakfast clubs with friends, loved entertaining, built a beach cabin, lake house, and spent time with her grandchildren. She was also an avid gardener and loved canning various things. On most holidays, you could find her cooking gumbo and spending time with her beloved family.
LouAnna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Curtis Louis Romero, and 7 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Romero Webre of Groves, TX.
LouAnna is also survived by three grandchildren, Colin Forsmo and wife Jill of Nederland, TX, Lindsay Romero and husband Shane Romero of Orange TX, and Sydney Webre granddaughter of New Braunfels TX, and four great grandchildren, Lennon and Luke Forsmo, Carson and Caroline Romero.
A Celebration of Mary LouAnna Romero’s Life will take place at Grammier-Oberle in Groves TX.
Officiated by Father JC Coon. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm; at Grammier-Oberle; Burial will follow Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 10:00 am at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
