Marian Ann Jones

Marian Ann Jones, age 92, died peacefully in her home in Spring, TX on November 13, 2021. She retired at the age of 73 from over 20 years of service with the Liberty ISD. Working at the school cafeteria through the week and at the concession stand for Liberty Little League baseball games after work and on the weekends, she made many friends who remember her to this day.

Known affectionately as the “band mom”, she never missed a Liberty High School football game, and was eager to chaperone school events and field trips. Although she claimed to not like animals, you could often catch her petting, snuggling, or secretly feeding a fur baby.

Marian loved taking control of the TV remote from 10:00am-7:00pm, watching soap operas, Little House on the Prairie, The Price is Right, and competing with family members at Wheel of Fortune. A lover of Diet Coke, southern cooking, and anything sweet, she was also an avid reader and a huge JJ Watt fan. She also enjoyed wrestling, puzzles, and the beach.

Ms Jones is survived by her eight children, Randy Deslatte, Katherine Ashby, Kenneth Deslatte, Kerry Deslatte, Roger Deslatte, Carol Cook, Cheryl Jones, and Maryl Jones; and numerous grandchildren. She was also “Mema” to extended family members and even those who came to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.

She will be truly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Funeral services will take place at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 23 at 1:00pm. Visitation will be from 11:00am -1:00pm.
