Ethel was born on October 6, 1934, in Port Arthur, Texas to Thelma Harrington Schexnider and Albert Schexnider. She was a retired bookkeeper for Gaspard’s Nursing Home in Port Acres and Hampton Furniture in Port Arthur. Ethel spent her retirement years caring for animals at Puppy Love in Port Acres. She was a devout member of St. Therese of the Little Flower Catholic Church in Port Acres where she was a member of the choir. Ethel loved to garden and raise her chickens at the house. She enjoyed fishing and going to the casino. Ethel loved life and was never one for sitting around; she was very active and enjoyed helping people but mainly, she loved her family and they loved her, she will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of meeting her.
Survivors include her children, Eddie LaBure and his wife Phyllis of Nederland; Michael LaBure and his wife Sarah of Port Acres, Rebecca Shipley and her husband Randy of Dickinson, Texas and Beth Westbrook and her husband Ricky of Fannett, Texas; her brother, Lawrence Joseph Schexnider and his wife Joan of Nederland; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Thelma Schexnider; siblings, Dorothy Mae Schexnider Crowder, Mildred Helen Davis and James Curtis Schexnider; her husband, Malcolm LaBure who passed away on May 20, 2008.
Services will be held at Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church in Port Acres on Saturday, March 13, 2021. A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. and a Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements were under the direction of Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur.
