Dorothy Herrin Boudreaux, 83, of Port Arthur, stepped into heaven on Saturday, May 24, 2014. She was born on October 13, 1930 in Chandler, Texas to Maurice and Dolly Herrin. She moved to Orange, TX. at 12 years old. Dorothy graduated Orange Stark High School and was a member of their Bengal Guards Drum & Bugle Corps. She married Lester Boudreaux and moved to Port Arthur in 1950. After raising her two children, she worked as secretary for the International Union of Bricklayers in Nederland. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for many years and loved teaching the 3 year old Children's Sunday School. After moving to Groves she loved to worship at First Baptist Church of Groves. Dorothy made many long lasting friendships while square dancing with the Swinging Squares Dancing Club. Yes, Dorothy did "Waltz Across Texas" with her sweetheart husband, L. C. Her greatest joy was hosting our frequent large family gatherings, offering plenty love, hospitality and serving her delicious Cajun food.
She is survived by her loving husband, Lester “L.C.” Boudreaux, daughter Janis Terrell and husband Don of Groves, son Mark Boudreaux and wife Susan of Sulphur, LA; grandchildren Delanea Tallent and husband Richard, Stacy Peoplesand husband Jared, Joni Copty and husband Paul, Megan Shaver and husband Brandon, Jared Boudreaux, and Beau Terrell; nine great grandchildren and her sister Linda Nabours.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home with Interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
