Ellen, better known as Jo, was born in Ste. Amelie, Manitoba, Canada to Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (Crook) on March 3, 1922. She lived in Port Alberni for 87 years. Jo worked at the old Port Alberni Hospital as a cook until her retirement.
Jo was preceded in death by her sisters Marguerite Theresa Spencer and Mary Winnifred Spencer (John James Hickey); niece Shannon Eileen; nephews Thomas Spencer and Kevin Patrick. She is survived by nieces Maureen Mirjahangir and Elizabeth (Marc) Sherwood; nephews John (Luba), Michael (Kimberley) and Gerald (Pat) Hickey; as well as many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to offer special thanks to Christina Campbell, Dr. Lund, and the staff at Fir Park for their care and support.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 4731 Burke Road, with Father Stephen Paine officiating.
