HILL, Clara Alice It is with heartfelt grief that we announce the unexpected passing of Clara Alice Hill on May 28th, 2016 at the age of 86. Clara, is survived by her beloved husband and life partner Joseph Royston Hill Jr., her best friend and sister Nancy (Levander) Mawle, 4 loving children; Douglas Hill and wife Marilyn, David Hill and wife Denise, Brian Hill and wife Janice, and Lindsay (Hill) Marshall and husband Neil. "Gran" loved and adored her eight grandchildren, Brent Hill, Mikhaela Hill, Courtney Hill, Rhys Hill, Kade Marshall, Brynn Marshall, Sarah Hill and Trevor Hill. Also numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives in Finland. Those who knew Clara knew a woman whose heart and door was always open. Her love and extremely strong commitment to her family was steadfast and endless. Joe and Clara enjoyed a life and marriage for 62 years filled with family, friendship and a laughter that never dimmed. Clara loved to entertain and was a fabulous cook. Our dinner table was often filled with friends and family throughout the years. She enjoyed reading, her daily crosswords and she loved a good game of bridge. She had a memory that never failed her, as many of us know. She was active and present in all of our lives to the end, supporting us in all that we did. Clara graduated from Alberni District Secondary School and she worked as a dental assistant prior to leaving her job to take on the full time role of wife, mother and eventually grandmother. Her longstanding commitment and faith attending St. Alban's Anglican Church, now Trinity Church was always her place of prayer, providing her strength and solace through good and challenging times. No service is planned at this time allowing for family members travelling abroad to continue their adventures as per Clara's clear wishes. It is important to note that the family is so very, very grateful to the outpouring of wishes, prayers and kindness offered to Joe and family in this a very difficult time. In lieu of flowers the family would request should you choose a donation in Clara's name to Trinity Church or the Canadian Cancer Society. -
