Gary “Mac” Scott departed this life into God’s presence on Friday, February 09, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born to Leland and Mickey Scott on December 31, 1944 in Hollis, Oklahoma. Mac graduated high school in 1964 from Mangum High School of Mangum, OK. Upon graduation, he furthered his education at Oklahoma State Technologies as a Diesel Mechanic. Mac began his thirty year offshore career in 1966, retiring from Chevron as a Production Supervisor in 1996. Mac currently served on the Sunny Oaks Water Board and was a member of Derby Baptist Church.
Mac enjoyed restoration of antique cars, as he was a member of Antique Car Club. He would spend a lot of time at the family fishing camp in Poticaw, Mississippi or you could often find him down at his shop, tinkering on a project.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Mickey Scott; and his brother, Tony Scott.
Mac was a loving husband to his precious wife Sharon for 54 years. He leaves behind his son,
Leland “Clint” Scott; one grandson, Kennon (Emily) Scott; One granddaughter, Olivia Scott; his great-granddaughter, Ellie Scott; his brother, Larry (Joanna) Scott. Mac leaves behind a host of family members that will forever cherish his memories, including his best friend of over fifty years, Sam Pace.
A private Celebration of Life, officiated by Bro. Breaux Tageant, will be held at White Funeral Home in Poplarville at 11:00 A.M.
