William Glen Hodge, age 78, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born April 26, 1938 to Wayne and Louise Hillhouse Hodge. He was saved at the age of 14 years old, and was a member of West Heights Baptist Church. He farmed at an early age, worked as a service station manager, worked in the furniture factories and was the Owner of WGH Construction Inc. He was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting deer and squirrel, fishing, training bird dogs and bird hunting, working with anything mechanical and car racing.
Services will be at 11 AM, Friday, January 20, 2017 at West Heights Baptist Church with Rev. David Hamilton and Rev. Bobby Caples will officiate, burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife Patricia Sue Hodge of Pontotoc, MS; his daughter, Anita Russell and husband Steve of Furrs, MS; one son, Mack Hodge and wife Doris of Pontotoc, MS; one sister, Jimmie Lee Sparks and husband Wayne of Oxford, MS and a brother, Julian Hodge and wife Maxine of Thaxton, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Mack Hodge, D.J. Singletary, Sam Tackitt, Tommy Wayne Hodge, Rodney Hodge, Allan Hodge, Robert Champion and David House. Honorary Pallbearers will be West Heights Sanctuary Sunday School Class, Steve Russell, Gene House, Kenny House, Ramey House, Wayne Sparks, Mike Sparks, Tommy Phillips, Jason Phillips, Billy Bagwell, Boe Huffstatler, Julian Hodge and Joe Hostetler.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home and on Friday from 10 to 11 AM at West Heights Baptist Church.
