Vara Inez McCoy Montgomery was the last of nine children born to the union of Jesse Fern Lee McCoy and Jettie Magill McCoy of the Macedonia community in Pontotoc County. Vara departed her earthly journey on 10/30/2023 at the age of ninety five, and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior she so faithfully served.
Vara met and married the love of her life Lawrence Audrane Montgomery at an early age. They were united in holy matrimony on 12/24/1948 shortly after graduating from Algoma High School where Vara was valedictorian of her senior class. The couple celebrated 69 years of marriage before the death of Audrane on 9/13/2017. They were blessed with three children, Christi, Lee and Mac.
Vara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Audrane, daughter Christi, sisters Clara McCoy, Blanche Crawford, Adelle Cruse, Estelle Otts, brothers Clark, Morris, Lavert and Lamar McCoy.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her two sons Lee and Mac (Conna) of Pontotoc. Grandchildren M.J. and Susanne, great grandchildren Christian, Chase, Coledon, Amber, Mace, Dax and Finleigh, numerous nieces, nephews and one sister-in-law Frances Montgomery.
Funeral services honoring the well lived life of Vara will be held at Fairview United Methodist Church on Thursday November 2 at 3 PM, with Bro. Jay Stanley officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service. A private family burial will follow at Springville Cemetery.
A limb has fallen from the family tree that says grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song, the good life I lived while I was strong.
