Sammye Ruth Reeder

Sammye Ruth Reeder, age 93, passed away on Thursday, November 03, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany. She was born December 19, 1922 to Sam White McCord and Ruth Barton McCord. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She worked at Joyner Fields, De Ville Furniture and retired from Action Industries. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and cooking.

Services will be at 10 AM Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Debra Lay and Rev. Danny Wilburn officiating; burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her children: Gailya Jane Reeder Malone (Danny) New Albany, MS, Jamie Delois Stennett (Mitch) of Laurel, MS, James Mack Reeder (Barbara) of Blue Springs, MS; her sister, Vernell Moorman of Pontotoc, MS, seven grandchildren, Mark Golding, Patti Spencer (Joe), Deana Olson (Brian), Jim Stennett (Heather), Bill Stennett, Stephanie Reeder and Chris Reeder and seven great grandchildren and one great great grandson, and her caregiver, Faye Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Noel Reeder, a sister, Sarah Rakestraw and a brother, Stanley McCord.

Pallbearers will be Mark Golding, Mike McCord, Jackie Cruse, Chris Reeder, Bill Stennett and Jim Stennett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Spencer, Brian Olson, Tanner Golding, Tony Golding, Ken Olson, Kyle Olson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
