Lavara Ann Coker, age 77, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019 at her residence. She was born June 5, 1942 to Ralph Baker and Inez Dowdy Baker. Lavara was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, where she was the pianist for over 50 years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. David Barnett officiating; burial will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is honored to assist the family.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Billy Coker, of Pontotoc, MS; three sons, Ronnie Coker (Kim) of Abbeyville, MS, Barry Coker and Jim Coker (Carla), both of Pontotoc, MS; three grandchildren, Melissa Hill (Alex), Matt Coker and Erikka Bateman, all of Pontotoc, MS and five great-grandchildren, Easton Hill, Eli Hill, Emalyn Hill, Scarlett Montgomery and Jack Bateman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers; Jim Baker and Don Baker (Evelyn).
Pallbearers will be Matt Coker, Alex Hill, Keith Hill, Jeffrey Baker, Greg Baker and Brad Baker.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday and from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday, all the visitation will be at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
