Herbert Lavoy Burk, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born May 3, 1932 to Amos Delta Burk and Maggie Ozella Baker Burk. He was a member of Turnpike Baptist Church. Herbert was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He taught Auto Body Repair at ICC for over 30 years, and he enjoyed hunting, farming and restoring antique vehicles.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Turnpike Baptist Church with Rev. Pete Gregory officiating; burial will follow in the West Heights Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
Survivors include his daughter, Felicia Johnson of Pontotoc, MS; one son, Mitchell Burk of Pittsburg, PA; a sister, Ruth McKnight of Southaven, MS; and two grandchildren, Chase Brobyn and Nicholas Burk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bobby Joan Burk; a daughter, Donna Phillips; two sons, Steve Burk and David Burk; two sisters, Dorothy Parker and Earline McKnight; and one brother, Evoy Burk.
Pallbearers will be Chase Brobyn, Dean Johnson, Mitchell Burk, Joey Self, Zack McGreger, Robbie Self and Terry McCain.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Saturday and from 1 to 2 PM Sunday at Turnpike Baptist Church.
