Michael Ernst

Michael was born in Munich, Germany to Michael and Wilhelmina Ernst on May 7, 1919. He later moved to America in 1929 to New York.

He proudly served in the US Army. Michael is a veteran of WWII where during his time in Europe he received the Service Cross, Bronze Star, Silver Star, and two Purple Hearts.

He went on to become a police officer with the NYPD, later retiring as a Captain in 1969. He was also a member of the 10-13 Police Organization.

He will be greatly missed by his son, Robert M. Ernst; daughter, Vivian L. Bayreuther; 5 grandchildren, Jimmy Bayreuther, Michele Bayreuther DiGianni, Robert C. Ernst, Michael Ernst, and Tony Ernst; and other family and friends.

Visitation will be 11-11:30am Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Forest Lawn North with a gravesite service 11:30am on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Forest Lawn North Memorial Gardens.
