Joan Marie Pettus Knight, 86, of Pompano Beach, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Broward General Medical Center.
Joan was born in Kentucky to Freeman Charles and Janet Elizabeth Pettus on January 8, 1938. She grew up in Gallipolis, OH where she received her nursing diploma from Holzer Hospital. She married in 1958 and relocated to South Florida. She began her nursing career at Broward General Medical Center that year when the hospital was located in a renovated apartment building. From 1967 to 2007, Joan worked at North Broward Medical Center, mostly as a nursing supervisor. She loved her job and was a dedicated employee, mentor and friend.
Joan is survived by her son Mark Knight, her daughter Susan Knight and her grandson Joe Knight.
Memorials may be given to Humane Society of Broward County.
