Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, October 23, 2021 at First Baptist Church – Pompano with Pastor Ron Harvey officiating.
Janet was born in Fort McClellan, Alabama to Charles Curtis and Charlie Jean McDonough on January 11, 1956. She went to school at Goldsboro High in North Carolina. She graduated from Guilford Tech Community College in Greensboro, North Carolina. She worked as the assistant to the senior pastor of First Baptist Church - Pompano for 21 years. She was heavily involved with the church, including acting as the assistant to the Senior Adults Trailblazer Ministry, coordinator of Front Desk Volunteer Ministry and was a member of the Ladies’ Bible Study.
Janet was extremely fond of cruises and travelling to new places. She loved baseball and was on a mission to visit every major league stadium in America. Most importantly, she made it to see her beloved New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. Her love of music took her to numerous concerts over the years including several trips to see her favorite band, The Rolling Stones.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Curtis McDonough and Charlie Jean McDonough.
Janet is survived by her son Carl Richardson and wife Tiffini Richardson of Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. Daughter Marie Richardson and husband Nick Corbin of Bath, England. Brother Alan McDonough of Greenville, NC, sister Barbara Ferguson of Staunton, VA and brother David McDonough of Pompano Beach, FL.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association in Janet’s honor.
