Donna K. Thorpe

Our precious Donna Kay Thorpe passed away Saturday, January 24th.

She was born on February 15, 1954 to Frank and Janet Wallen in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Donna was the oldest of six children. She and her family moved to Florida when she was young.

In high school, she met the love of her life, Chris. On September 18, 1972, they were married. Donna and Chris were inseparable. They were married for ten years before their daughter, Cassandra, was born in 1982. She was so happy to be a mother; the three of them loved each other very much and were always very close. They lived in Florida for 11 years, and then moved to Pennsylvania to be near her family. One of her favorite pastimes in Pennsylvania was going to the Apple Harvest Festival with her siblings, Debbie, Anita, and Allen.

Unfortunately her husband became ill; she and her daughter brought him back to Florida to be with his family. During the day, Donna would care for her husband, and at night she worked at Walmart for over 10 years. Her husband passed away in 2009; she was devastated. She filled her time with, gardening, yard sales, and rides down the beach. She loved spending almost every day with her daughter, visiting her mother -in- law, Katherine, and spending weekends with her sister -in- law, Laurie. She especially loved spending the long weekends with Jill, Steph, and Laurie.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Cassandra; her mother, Janet; her two brothers and three sisters; Allen, Terry, Debbie, Anita, Pat; her mother -in- law, Katherine, three sisters -in- law, and five brothers –in- law; Jill, Laurie, Steph, Al, Dave, Mark, Jim, Kevin; nephews, nieces, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Donna was always the sweetest person, but she was a tough cookie. Her laugh was like no other. She was such a wonderful and loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend.

Donna, words cannot express how much we will miss you each and every day, but we find comfort in knowing that you and Chris are together once again, to hold each other forever.
