Chuck was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on March 2, 1938 and grew up in Troy, New York. He graduated from Troy High School where he played baseball. In 1955, upon graduating from high school, Chuck joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17. During his time in the USAF he worked in intelligence and was stationed in Germany and North Africa. He served his country honorably until September 11, 1960.
Upon completing his service in the military, Chuck attended the Ohio State University where he met and eventually married Arlena Turner, the mother of his eldest son, Daron Fitch, on May 15, 1965. He later met and married Susan Schumm, mother of his two youngest children, Christina Fitch and Jonathan Fitch, on February 24, 1981.
Chuck had a career in computer technology. He initially worked for PPG Industries, Inc. then went on to work for Borden, Inc. and finished his career as a self-employed entrepreneur in the field of computer programming where he developed software programs such as JDLAW used by local law firms and businesses. He had a passion for photography, fishing, and all sports, especially Ohio State football. As a young adult, he was an avid tennis player and an instructor for many years.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Francis S. Fitch. He is survived by his beloved mother, Loraine Fitch, his brother, William S. Fitch and his sister, Barbara J. Fitch-Epps; children: Daron S. Fitch (Suzanna), Christina F. Escobar (Edgar) and Jonathan C. Fitch; grandchildren: Jordyn T. Fitch, Tyler C. Fitch, Julian E. Escobar and Aidan C. Escobar.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 30th from 1-3pm at Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1199 East Sample Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064. The family will host a reception immediately following the memorial services from 3-5pm.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pompano Beach, Florida.
