“Carlos (Charlie) Manuel Vega Sr. was a gentle loving soul who left the legacy of a much loved extended family. He was always making everyone laugh. He is survived by his loving wife (after 62 years of marriage), 4 daughters, 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Born in Cuba in 1924, a lover of classical music, he always dreamed of being an orchestra director. He completed high school at military academy Instituto Civico Militar, Havana, Cuba. After serving in the Cuban Navy, he came to America searching freedom for his family. While entering America during the great snow storm in December of 1967, he resided in New Jersey working many years for Indian Head Corporation. After retirement, he moved to California with his wife, International Award Winner and retired Celebrity Hairstylist, Gloria Vega. Later, Carlos completed his retirement moving to Florida with his wife to enjoy fishing and spending time with his family. Carlos died peacefully at his home in Pompano Beach, surrounded by his loved ones. In lieu of flowers, at the time of his viewing, a donation towards supporting the widow is preferred.”
