On Sunday March 29, 2020, the world lost a bright light and heaven gained an angel, as Annette Gregoire Blumert passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 97. The kindest, most gentle, most selfless woman who ever lived.
Annette was born on July 23, 1922, to Alice and Joseph Gregoire in Scott Junction, Quebec. She received her certificate from the École Normale de Beauceville, Quebec around 1942. She became a teacher and then went on to complete her nursing degree at Centre Hopitalier Universite Laval with her sister Jacqueline where she graduated in the top 5% of her class. Annette had a great sense of humor and many fun adventures while growing up. Her and her sister Jacqueline use to sneak out of the nurse’s training residence to tour the Île d'Orléans Island with their bicycles. On one occasion they even rode their bicycles 23 miles from Quebec to Scott to surprise their families.
In the early 50’s Annette met and married her first husband Armand Adams and they later moved to Meridan, Connecticut. After his passing in the early 60’s she moved and settled in South Florida where she met her second husband Herbert Blumert. Every year her parents would spend winters with Annette in Florida. Her house was always opened to friends and family.
In the summers, Annette enjoyed traveling to Europe, Canada, Meriden, and New York City creating beautiful memories with loved ones. She was Catholic and regularly attended service at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Annette enjoyed sewing, reading the newspaper, having friends over, dining out, and doing crossword puzzles. She especially loved sea food, having a cheeseburger with fries, and let’s not forget her cup of coffee. Her favorite restaurants were Sea Watch on the Ocean, Papa Hughie’s Seafood, and Houston’s. She was full of life and to the very last days, she loved to go out with Susie her personal caregiver who took care of her for over 27 years and considered her and her son Tony, family. Annette had a very full and active life.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Armand Adams and late husband Herbert L Blumert. Her siblings, Therese Gregoire Herbert, Robert Gregoire, and Gervais Gregoire. She is survived by her sister, Jacqueline Gregoire Gaudet, many nieces and nephews, and a few loving friends who she considered family. Annette had a profound love and affection for her family and friends.
To so many, Annette was a sweet loving, giving and gentle soul that has left a lasting impact on all the lives she touched. She was quite an amazing woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Till we meet again. We love you.
