Lorraine, the eldest daughter of Irene Rondeau and Adrien Fifi, was born on August 7, 1930, in Saint Boniface, Winnipeg.
Lorraine was raised during the challenging times of WWII and many a cold Winnipeg winter night. In her twenties, she made her way to Montreal to build her life and career. It was there where she met and married Charles O’Neil in May 1963. It was Charles’ work that took them to St John’s, Newfoundland where Lorraine thoroughly enjoyed the four years raising their children, before returning to what was ultimately her long-term home, Pointe-Claire.
Lorraine loved volunteering and was more than a familiar face around Cedar Park, Synchro Canada and many other organizations. She was tireless in her support of the local community and highly regarded in the roles she played within it. Above all, she was a fighter and never shied away from a cause in need.
Lorraine was an amazing and supportive mother to Sean (Balbinder), Kevin (Michelle), Marie-Claire (Michael), and Brian (Kathleen) and Grandmother to Billy, JoJo, Avery, Justine, Jasmeen, Connor, Holly, and Sahara. Lorraine will be deeply missed by her family, but we are grateful to her for the love and life lessons that we will carry with us forever. Lorraine had a zest for life and challenged us to love each day to the fullest. She was strong, feisty, tenacious, and above all else, dedicated to her family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24 at St. Joachim Church, Pointe-Claire from 10 am to 12 pm, located at 2 Avenue Ste Anne, Pointe-Claire, Quebec H9S 4P5, Canada.
Thank you to the staff at Saint Anne’s Hospital for their care and attention through these difficult times.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Chez Doris would be greatly appreciated.
