As a fellow Retread I have only known John for the last few years. He was indeed a kind, generous and loving man.His sudden death was a sad shock as I heard of it while vacationing in Vancouver. We were to breakfast together in April.

I learnt a lot from him and we shared enthusiasm and discussions over more than 30 years.

I just heard the news of Johnny's passing from my Uncle Gerry in Victoria. I met Johnny a number of times over the years, when my parents lived in St. Bruno and most recently when he came to Ottawa to pick up Mary and Gerry for a trip to Montreal following their attendance at my father's funeral in 2009. Johnny always impressed me with his quiet humour and his ability to make you feel at ease. Conversation flowed and smiles were shared. Please accept my most heartfelt sympathy. Although we were not related, I feel as though I have lost part of my extended family.
