Connie spent Friday with her four children before a gently passing at the Bayview Nursing Home in Point Claire early on Saturday morning August 13, 2022.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John, sisters, Patricia and Marie and brothers, Anthony, David, and Douglas and her brother and sisters in laws, Sandy Chisholm, and Peter O’Byrne of Hove, Monique Timmons, and Daniel Anthony. and dear son-in-law Allan Bursey.
Connie was the proud mother of four children, Patricia, Brian, Barbie, and Peggy, treasured grandmother of, Kelly (Derrik) Colleen (John) Allan John, and beloved great grandmother of Brayden. She will be remembered by her sister-in-law, Tonie Timmons who was a frequent visitor at Bayview, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends in Canada, the US, and England.
Born and raised in Quebec City, Connie was a 1943 graduate of Laval University, and remained a champion of higher education for women. She married John O’Byrne of Hove, England in February 1947 and raised a family in Pointe Claire.
Connie loved the water and was an avid swimmer well into her 80’s. With her dear friends, Phyllis, Betty and Freda, this vibrant gang of golden agers regularly frequented their beloved West Island swimming pools and enjoyed sandwiches and dessert at local haunts to celebrate their laps. Right up to the end, Connie enjoyed a good ice cream (two scoops).
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Veronica’s Church, Dorval, QC , 1300 Carson Avenue on Saturday, September 10 at 10:30 a.m., with interment to follow at the National Field of Honour, Pointe Claire. Pre-service condolences will be received between 9:30 -10:30 at the same location.
The staff at CLSC Bayview are appreciated for their compassionate and constant care. Special thanks to the 2nd floor nursing and care staff, and in particular Dr Anne Marie Dollois who provided excellent medical care for the past 30 plus years.
