Penny Jeanne Gibbins

Born on February 7, 1947 in Hackensack, NJ, into the adoring arms of her parents, Raymond and Aileen Flanagan, both deceased. She grew up with her older brother Mickey and then ten years later was blessed with her baby brother, Ted, now deceased and baby sister, LeAnna. She met and then married the love of her life, Douglas Gibbins, on June 18, 1966 and together they raised three children, Brian, Jennifer and Charles. Her soulmate predeceased her on December 3, 1990 and after almost 29 years of waiting Doug has found his Penny to hold again.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Penny is survived by her three loving children, Brian Gibbins (Tammy), Jennifer O’Hara (Scott) and Charles Gibbins (Melissa); Gibbins grandchildren, Rachel, Joseph, Lili (Randy), Kara, Ivy, Maya, Jessica, Chelsea and Jolene; O’Hara grandchildren, Shane (Julia), Megan (Jacob) and Kaitlin (Garrett); Gibbins great-grandchildren, Abbygail, Loki and Leander; brother, Mickey (Becky); Sister, LeAnna (Jim); nieces, Jamie, Carrie, Jessie, Marcie, and Michele; nephew, Joe; and Aunt Shirley (Gene). She was preceded in death by her mother, Aileen Flanagan.

Penny worked for many years as a legal secretary at the Law Offices of Thaler and Thaler in West Palm Beach. She was a talented seamstress who had her mother’s gift for creativity and enjoyed taking over the tradition of making Christmas stockings for all the newest additions to the growing family. Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her family and watching her children raise her grandchildren, whom she adored.

A memorial service to celebrate Penny’s life will be held at Journey Church, 6201 S. Military Trail, Lake Worth, Florida on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the National MS Society, P.O.
