We regret to announce the passing of Richard “Rick” Simonds Sr. of Seffner, Florida on Thursday, November 1, 2012. Rick passed into God’s arms with his family by his side. Rick was born July 1,1955 in Plant City, Florida. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, uncle.
To quote his “# 1 Grandson, Corbin”, “He never met a soul he did not love. He would never harm a person or thing.” Rick was a member of the American Poolplayers Association for many years, but his favorite sport was NASCAR. He worked for Florida Powertrain & Hydraulics, Inc. for 20 years.
Rick left this world too soon after a long hard fought battle with lung cancer, but the memory and love for him will remain forever.
Rick is survived by his wife of 39 years Betty Simonds, son Richard Simonds Jr. and his wife Jessica, grandson Corbin, granddaughter Lyla, brothers Jack Killian (Darlene), Johnnie Simonds (Karen), Renney Simonds (Jean), Leroy Simonds, Billy Simonds (Beth), sisters Linda Bynum (Danny), Annette Franklin (Mike), and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank the tremendous staff of the The Florida Cancer Specialists group (Dr. Shalin Shah), Pulmonary & Sleep of Tampa Bay (Dr. Dragos Zanchi) and Brandon Hospital. The Viewing will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012 between 6:00-8:00 pm, and services will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 11:00 am. Both services will be at Wells Memorial, 1903 West Reynolds St., Plant City FL 33563.
Interment will be at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens in Brandon FL.
