Louise will be laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida joining Angelo Settanni, her husband of 53 years. Born October 31st, 1922 in Greenwich Village to immigrant parents Anna and Francesco Ercolano, Luisa Helen grew up with her older sister Mary Concetta and younger brother Anthony Salvatore in Flushing, NY. A first-generation college student, Louise graduated from Queens College, earned a master’s degree in mathematics at Columbia University in 1946, and taught in NYC.
Angelo and Louise married on July 3rd, 1949 and moved to Oakland Park, Florida in 1959. When their daughters began school, Louise joined them in the Florida's public school system, as a math teacher. For most of her career, Louise especially loved teaching calculus and trigonometry at Northeast High in Oakland Park. In 1987, Lou and Ang retired to Zephyrhills, Florida, where Louise lived until moving to Raleigh in 2016.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 21st, 2019 at Wells Memorial and Event Center in Plant City, Florida from 10:00 - 10:30 a.m. and a graveside service will follow at Florida National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
