Virgil and Julia Craft. At the age of three, she was adopted by Joseph and Ida
Thonert. Laura was baptized in 1930 at Hamlet, Indiana. She made her public
confession of faith by confirmation at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church at La
Crosse, Indiana on April 6, 1941.
In 1945, Laura was living in Knox, Indiana and graduated from Knox High School.
Laura worked for a period of time for Western Union as a telephone switchboard
operator. Later in her life, she was a mother, homemaker, and community
volunteer. She enjoyed attending church, teaching Sunday school, traveling with
her family, bowling, hosting Sunday afternoon pool parties, shopping, trips to the
beauty parlor, and performing at a variety of places in the Plant City area with her
line dancing group.
Laura met John Henry Rademacher at church in Knox, Indiana. John affectionately
called her, Laura Lou. On February 15, 1947, Laura and John were married at Our
Redeemer Lutheran Church at Knox. After their marriage, John and Laura lived in
Valparaiso, Indiana where together they built a home. While living in Valparaiso
their marriage was blessed with three children: Gene, Joyce, and John.
In 1956, the young Rademacher family relocated from Valparaiso, Indiana to Plant
City, Florida. They moved to Plant City, Florida to establish a concrete
manufacturing business. This business was later joined by Laura’s cousin, Donald
Warner. That business was named Plant City Ready Mix Company. Later, John
and Laura also began and operated Certified Insulation Company in Plant City.
It was in 1956 that Laura and her husband, John, with four other families took the
initiative to begin a Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod congregation in Plant City,
Florida. It was in February 1957, that Hope Lutheran Church began what is now
its 65-year ministry in the Plant City community.
Laura’s husband, John was called home to heaven on November 29, 1995.
Laura was a faithful child of God and she was called to her heavenly home on
Tuesday, November 15, 2022.
Laura will be deeply missed by her children and their spouses: Joyce (Harold)
Werner, Gene (Kim) Rademacher, and John A. Rademacher; her grand and greatgrandchildren;
her nieces and nephews; her friends; and brothers and sisters in
Christ at Hope Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. at Hope Lutheran
Church, 2001 N. Park Road, Plant City, Florida. A memorial service will follow at
1:00 p.m.
Laura will be laid to rest in Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery, Dade City, Florida.
