Richard Anthony Williams Sr. was born in Newburgh, New York to the late Willie James and Mary Jane Williams. In 1976 after graduating from Newburgh Free Academy High School, at the age of 17 Richard enlisted in the United States Army, while in the Army he achieved an Associate of Arts degree. Richard retired from the United States Army as a Chief Warrant Officer, (CW2) in 1998 with a service career that spanned 22 years. After retirement Richard was employed at the Brinks Company, and later Penske Truck Company for many years as a foreman until he became medically disabled. He also participated for a period of time in the Masonic Fraternity. He spent his final days being a devoted husband, and loving father to his children and as a grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Debra Williams of Cedar Hill, Texas; daughter Elder Taneesha Williams Durham of North Carolina; sons Youth Pastor Richard Williams, Jr. (Crystal Layla Williams) of Cleveland, Ohio; T’wann Campbell, T’carion Campbell (Brandi Campbell) of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Moses and Olivia Williams, Romeo Kenan, T’Shawn, T’yanna,T’Kira, T’janni, Tayler and T’Koda Campbell; brother Charles Burton of Oxon Hill, Maryland; brother Ronald J. Williams of Los Angeles, California; sister Angela P. Williams East of Greenbush, New York; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
