She was born on August 14, 1939, in Greensburg, Kansas, to the late Kenneth and Lucille (Buchholz) Pedigo. Rachel was a 1957 graduate of Palo Duro High School. She retired from Laureate Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after spending her career as an accountant. Rachel was a member of First Baptist Church in Plano. She was an avid reader and enjoyed games such as Bridge, Dominoes, and was a Scrabble extraordinaire. She had a wonderful sense of humor. Rachel was a quick-witted prankster who was a joy to be around. She was fiercely independent, in all the best ways. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Glenn Austin. She is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl (Keith) Marple of Lawton, OK and Stephanie Austin of Plano, TX; grandson, Erik Marple (Brandon Sanders) of Dallas, TX; granddaughters, Megan (George) Horton of Stillwater, OK and Tiffany Renison of Lawton, OK; great-grandchildren, Tyler Renison, Liam Renison, Mattie Horton, and Tate Horton; brother, Jim Pedigo of Junction City, KS; sisters, Phyllis (Chuck) Barr of Dallas, TX and Linda Brown of Junction City, KS; and special family friends, John Crow and Lahona & Kenneth Kelley.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11am in Ted Dickey Funeral Home with Dr. Craig Curry officiating.
