Patricia (Pat) was born August 10,1943 in Topeka, Kansas to Lettie Ann (Krohne) Long and Samuel Clarence Long. She grew up in Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School in 1961.
She married Daniel Jess Bardsley in 1961, and in 1964 they had a daughter Kammie Kae Bardsley. They moved to Iowa City, Iowa in 1969 where they ran DJ’s Family Restaurant for the next seven years. In 1971 they had a son, Chad Clay Bardsley.
In 1977, they moved to Plano, Texas. Pat worked for Northern Telecom which later became Bell Northern Research and then Nortel for approximately 20 years.
Pat was very active and enjoyed playing soccer and softball into her 40’s. She was a pitcher. She also took tap dance lessons in her 50’s, and performed in recitals. She loved country western dancing on Thursday nights with her friends.
Pat retired early to care for her grandchildren Lauren and Joe Campagna. Family was very important to Pat and loved attending family gatherings. She also lovingly cared for her mother Lettie in her home for several years until Lettie’s death.
In 2010 she married Kenneth Mumford of Topeka, Kansas, adding more special family members to her life. They enjoyed attending antique car shows and parades in Kenny’s 1959 Chevy Impala.
Pat was always very creative and enjoyed all types of crafts. During the last twenty years of her life, she worked tirelessly on quilting projects, creating quilts and other projects to give to family members and friends. She attended quilting retreats with her dear friend Darlene Morgans, whom she had known since high school. She was a perfectionist and her work was flawless and beautiful.
Pat is survived by her brother, Glen C. Long (wife Carol) of Las Vegas, Nevada, daughter Kammie Campagna (husband John) of Dallas, Texas, stepdaughter Teri Schmidt (husband Stan) of Overland Park, Kansas.
Grandchildren: Lauren Frances Campagna and Joseph Michael Campagna of Dallas, Texas, step-grandchildren Casey Schmidt and Collin Schmidt of Overland Park, Kansas, and several nieces and nephews.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Lettie Long, and her son Chad Clay Bardsley who died on April 17, 1994. Chad is buried at Plano Mutual Cemetery in Plano, Texas where Pat will be laid to rest.
Pat enjoyed travelling with family and friends to the beach, to quilting retreats, volleyball tournaments, etc. She enjoyed cheering at her kids’ and grandchildren’s soccer, baseball, basketball, softball, and volleyball games, as well as attending golf tournaments.
Pat was very active in church activities and served as a deacon at West Plano Presbyterian Church where she had been a member since 1977. Her faith in God guided her and fueled her desire to always be helping and serving others.
She enjoyed attending card-making workshops on Saturday mornings with her friends, and she participated in resident activities at Evergreen Plano where she made many new friends. During the pandemic she spent innumerable hours working on sewing projects, making quilts, quilted bags, masks and handmade greeting cards.
Pat was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service & Celebration of Pat’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 1:00 PM at West Plano Presbyterian Church, located at 2709 Custer Road, Plano, Texas 75075.
Pastor David Batchelder will officiate.
Following the service, a reception will be held at the church in the Fellowship Hall.
