Max was a 2022 graduate of Plano West Senior High School and a junior at Texas Christian University, where he was pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre with an emphasis in Acting. His passion for the arts, particularly film and anime, was evident in everything he did. Max’s boundless creativity, curiosity, and imagination touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Max was a kind, intelligent young man, known for his wit, humor, and deep empathy. He was a listener first—always present for his friends, offering a caring ear and thoughtful advice when they needed it most. Max’s deep care for people, combined with his remarkable ability to make others feel seen and understood, made him a cherished friend to many. Whether in conversation or simply offering a comforting presence, Max had an extraordinary way of making those around him feel important and loved.
Max had a deep love for gaming and spent many hours playing alongside his friends. Gaming was more than just a hobby for Max—it was a way for him to connect with those he cared about, sharing laughter, challenges, and memorable moments. His sense of camaraderie and competitive spirit made gaming with him unforgettable—and, at times, loud!
In addition to his academic pursuits and love for gaming, Max found joy and solace at his family’s ranch in Bowie, Texas, where he spent many cherished summers. There, at “Cowboy Camp” with his beloved Papa D, Max learned the simple pleasures of hard work and the beauty of the outdoors. He was a hard worker, always eager to lend a hand to his grandfather—whether it was trimming trees, cleaning the tank, or clearing trails. Max loved to ride his red 4-wheeler, swim in the tank, get lost in the woods, and embrace the peace and adventure that the wide open spaces of the ranch offered. These moments brought him great joy and a deep sense of connection to his family and the land.
Max’s infectious energy, artistic soul, and unique personality left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Whether on stage, or simply in the company of friends and family, Max brought warmth, insight, and joy to those around him. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his creativity, and his ability to make others feel loved and important.
Max is survived by his parents, Linda Domyanic and Kent Mayes, his grandparents, Michael and Vickie Domyanic, Fred Olinger, Kathy Hayes and Bill Mayes, his sister, Caroline Mayes, and multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins.
While Max's time with us was far too short, his legacy of love, friendship, and creativity will live on in the memories of those who knew him. He was taken from us much too soon, but the light he shared with the world will never fade.
A Celebration of Life for Maxwell will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Methodist Church in Plano, Texas. All who knew Max are invited to join in remembering his remarkable life and the love he brought to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Max may be made to TCU Theatre or the TCU Counseling and Mental Health Center.
