Kenneth Raymond Thompson, age 87, passed away on September 2, 2011, in Richardson, TX. He was born on June 16, 1924, in Fremont, OH to Joseph and Alma Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ellen Thompson of Plano, TX; 5 children, Linda Kay Goss and husband Richard of Austin, TX, Joyce Lynn Martin and husband Charles (Chuck) of Plano, TX, Lawrence Ray Thompson and wife Sharon of Round Rock, TX, Lenore Ann Thompson of Plano, TX, and Brian Scott Thompson and wife Trish of Plano, TX; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Ken worked at Howard Wolf, Inc. as Vice President over computers and at Hogan Systems as an Analyst and Programmer. After retiring, he went to work for the Department of Public Safety for 6 years. He was 78 years old when he retired and was the oldest retiree from DPS. Ken and Ellen raised their children in Dallas, TX. Ken loved to work but family always came first. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Ken was a fun man who had a great sense of humor and was always telling jokes. He was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church and enjoyed teaching his sixth grade class. Ken will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2011, at Ted Dickey Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at 11:00 am, at Grace Presbyterian Church, 4300 W. Park Blvd., Plano, TX 75093. Interment will be held at the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
