John R. Bryant

John Reginald Bryant , 83, of Plano, Texas passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, 2128 18th Street, Plano, Texas with Mr. Jerry Carlisle of First Baptist Church, Plano, Texas officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 pm on Sunday, December 11 at Moody Cemetery in Moody, Texas. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Ted Dickey Funeral Home in Plano, Texas.

Mr. Bryant was born December 22, 1927 in Eastland, Texas to Tom Earl and Melba Bryant. He Married June Janet Roberson on September 23, 1949 in Bossier City, La., and they celebrated over 57 wonderfully blessed years of marriage together. Mr. Bryant was a great friend who showed many people kindness and gave of himself to others sacrificially. As a husband and father, Mr. Bryant gave unconditional love and never went a day without telling his son and his wife that he loved them. Mr. Bryant was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Mr. Bryant was a WWII veteran and was honorably discharged from the US Navy in 1947. Mr. Bryant attended Texas A&M University as a mechanical engineering major and was a third generation fighting Texas Aggie. He was sophomore class president while in the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets. Mr. Bryant was also a 320 Mason and Shriner.

His integrity, honesty and love of life defined him. He was always there for his family and friends, and attended all of his son’s football and baseball games. He was a private pilot and loved to travel. One of his dreams was fulfilled when he landed on the USS Enterprise via tail hook and was able to eat in the officer’s mess.

His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his son Dr. John Thomas Bryant and his wife Kristy Bryant of Plano, Texas; two granddaughters, Emily and Audrey Bryant of Plano, Texas and a niece, Kim Sipes of Shreveport, La.

We will miss you Papa. See you in Heaven.
