Janis Lee Nixon was born on September 23, 1946 in Paris, TX. Janis was the daughter of Jesse Lee and Alene Harris. Janis was a strong, hard-working, caring and kind woman. She devoted her life to loving and caring for her kids and grandkids. She loved being called "Grammy" and watching her grandkids play ball, sing, dance or just be silly. If she called you friend, she loved you like family. Janis worked hard to provide for her family and worked with the Shapiro Law Firm for over 30 years as a paralegal. She was passionate about helping people and impacted many lives with her strong work ethic and caring nature. Many clients became life-long friends over the years. She was a fan of Motown, Elvis Presley, Perry Mason and she loved her Dallas Cowboys. Janis Lee Nixon is survived by her son Ronald Lee “Boogie” Nixon Jr. and his wife Danna, as well as by her daughter Jamie Lee Gilliam and her husband Brannon. Janis’ legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Bailey Nixon, Kaitlyn Howell, Madison Nixon, Braden Howell, Travis Gilliam, Taylor Gilliam, Camryn Quinlin, Gabriella Howell, Spencer Nixon, and Daniel Gilliam. She goes to join her parents, Alene and Jesse Lee. She will also join her sister, Glenda Cook, and sister-in-law, Shirley Nixon. A funeral service will be held for Janis at Ted Dickey Funeral Home on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 12 PM.
