1939 – 2022
James “Jim” Albert Wilcox, Jr, age 83, of Allen, Texas passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022. Born in San Antonio, Texas on January 23, 1939, Jim was the son of James, Sr. (“Jimmy”) and Helen Bright. Jim was baptized and attended parochial school at St. Patrick Catholic Church in San Antonio and was a proud graduate from Central Catholic High School in San Antonio, reuniting many times throughout the years with classmates both in San Antonio and in Dallas.
Jim met the love of his life, JoAnn Magnus, and they were married on August 24, 1963 (a swelteringly hot day) at St. Leo Catholic Church in San Antonio. Shortly after their nuptials, the newlyweds moved to Dallas to enjoy married life and begin their beautiful family.
Jim and JoAnn quickly became members of St. Pius X Catholic Church, where they were involved in parish life. Jim served as Men’s Club president and on the construction committee for the new gym. He was an active member of Knights of Columbus (799), and the couple enjoyed taking their family to the KC Hall near Flag Pole Hill often.
After their children grew and flew the nest, Jim and JoAnn had a one-year adventure in Oklahoma City before relocating in Fort Worth, TX, where they became active members at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Jim continued his Knights of Columbus work, leading members in regular pancake breakfasts.
Jim had a long career in decorative hardware, with the last twenty years of his successful career at the prestigious Pierce Hardware.
In 2019, beloved family and friends surprised Jim with a wonderful birthday, displaying an outpouring of love for a man who dedicated his life to God, his beautiful bride, wonderful (though sometimes stubborn) children, long-time and newly acquired friends, and the Church. Throughout his life, Jim had a passion for golf, the Dallas Cowboys, and chocolate milk.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Janice, his grandson Jeffrey, and his sister Penelope. He is survived by his wife JoAnn, his children Jessica (Andy), Joellen (Robin), James III, and John (Lissette), his grandchildren Christopher, Justin, Madeleine (Rocky), Matthew, Nicholas, and Lincoln, his great-granddaughter Jasmyne, and his sisters Kathryn and Margaret (Jim).
