Dorothy Ann Petry Gagliano, 70, of Decatur, GA and formerly of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, entered into eternal rest on December 3, 2013. She was born March 28, 1943 in Providence, RI. Dorothy is predeceased by her parents, Francis and Edith (Barker) Petry. She is survived by and was a devoted wife to Ross Andrew Gagliano, to whom she was married for 50 years. He affectionately called her Margo and was her soul-mate and best friend from the moment they met in Fontenet, France.She is also survived by her daughter, Lisa Ricketts and husband Mark, of Parker, TX; sons, James Gagliano and fiancé Tiffany, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY and Jonathan Gagliano and wife, Wendy, of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren who lovingly knew her as Bobby; Kristen, Zachary, Anthony, Erin, Alexandra, James, Claire, and Kaitlin; her sister, Susan Ray of Newborn, GA and other loving family members and friends. Dorothy reveled in the accomplishments of her three children and her eight grandchildren. She shared her passion of knitting with her daughter, daughter-in-law and granddaughters. Many service members in Afghanistan and Iraq benefitted from socks, scarves, and caps knitted with love. She was a devoted Catholic who was deeply committed to her church, numerous charities and family. The Christmas season was her favorite time of year, and she had a special affection for Cardinals, a family spiritual symbol. An addict of McDonald’s hamburgers and iced coffee, she enjoyed social networking with family and friends around the world. In lieu of flowers, and in the spirit of the holiday season, the family requests that “you pay it forward” by making donations to the charity of your choice.
