Began his heavenly life on February 18, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Darrell was born on January 15, 1940 to Clyde and Velma Norris in Nemo, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sally; 3 children, Julie Martinez (Rick), Jay Norris, and Nicole Purdue (Ian); 7 grandchildren, Justis, Amanda, Micah, Sarah, Heidi, Wyatt, and Brady; and great grandson, Silas; brother in law, Sam White; and a host of other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margaret White, and Peggy Fleming; and brother, Bob Norris.
Darrell is a graduate of Sunset High School, Dallas, Texas, class of 1958. He then graduated from Arlington State College in 1964 with a degree in Accounting. He was the Administrator for the law firm Winstead, McGuire, Sechrest, & Minick, before retiring. Darrell was an avid fisherman and took every opportunity to share his passion and knowledge with those he knew. He loved to watch college football; no school was too small or big to follow, from The Citadel to the Fighting Texas Aggies to Ahmatellin U and Watsamata U. Darrell enjoyed tending to his garden and sharing this love with his grandchildren. Everyone who knows Darrell treasures his sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor.
A memorial service celebrating Darrell’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at First Baptist Church Carrollton at 2:00 PM, located at 2400 North Josey Lane, Carrollton, Texas 75006, (972)512-3800. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), supporting Myasthenia Gravis (MG), and in memory of Darrell C Norris.
