Carl Norman Whatley, 86, of Allen, Texas, passed away on March 30, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born on November 17, 1937, in Austin, Texas. Carl graduated from The University of the South with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics in 1959. He went on to University of Chicago and obtained a Master of Business Administration in 1961. Carl was the loving husband of Louanne whom he married on August 30, 1959. They were married for 59 glorious years and built a firm foundation for their family.
Carl was in the Oil Industry and worked for Texaco as a computer programmer and manager until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Houston serving as the Sunday School Superintendent for many years.
After retirement he joined Holy Nativity Episcopal Church in Plano. He spent much of his time called into service helping others. His volunteer work at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church included Food Pantry, Altar Guild, Meals on Wheels, and Plano Community Home. He was a greeter, usher, founding member of Tuesday Night Bible Study, and served on the church vestry. He also enjoyed hosting numerous special events at the church. He committed his life to serving his family and his Lord.
Carl is preceded in death by his loving wife, Louanne Lloyd Whatley and his parents, William Archibald Whatley and Irene Whatley Averill.
He is survived by his brother: John T. Whatley; children: Lynn Smith and husband Kirk, Lloyd Whatley and wife Deborah, Ellen Cardona and husband Gabriel, Daniel Whatley and Gloria; grandchildren: Jeremy Smith, Brooke Hausmann and husband Travis, Abbey Pelosi and husband Justin, Connor Smith and wife Paige, Elizabeth Whatley, Alexandria Whatley, Michael Cardona, Anya Cardona, and Isabel Whatley; great-grandchildren: Finley Smith, Riley Smith, Carter Smith, Hudson Hausmann, Caleb Hausmann, Annabelle Hausmann, Samson Hausmann, Joseph Hausmann, Augustine Hausmann, Thomas Hausmann, Lawrence Hausmann, Wyatt Pelosi, Corrina Pelosi, and Jaylen Smith. Carl also leaves behind his Holy Nativity family and friends at Plano Community Home, especially Ruth.
He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Dexter and Dempsey.
We will celebrate his life with a visitation on Wednesday, April 3rd, from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM at Ted Dickey Funeral Home - 2128 18th St. Plano, Tx. There will be a Celebration Mass on Thursday, April 4th, at 10:00 AM, officiated by The Rev. Can. Dr. Samira Page at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, 2200 18th St. Plano, Tx. Reception will follow.
