She was born in Plano, Texas, December 11, 1914. She was the
daughter of Charlie and Birdie Mayes. She had one sister, Erline,
who preceded her in death. Her career in the banking industry is
legendary; as a trust officer she helped to train many of the officers
in the Nations Bank/NCNB/Bank of America system here in North Texas. When she reached the age of retirement, she challenged the bank, and won the right to continue working another ten years. She
was often referred to as "Miss Plano" reflecting her deep and abiding love for her town. She lived a very active life and was honored many times by The Old Settlers, and the Plano Business & Professional Women's Club, serving as its president. She was active in her beloved First United Methodist Church Plano, was its oldest continuous mem-ber, singing for more than 60 years in the Chancel Choir, including
two Sundays ago. She played bridge regularly and was a founding member of her club. She was a member and attended both the
Rejabian and Thompson Book Clubs and an active supporter of the Plano Symphony.
