Patricia Ann Peterson

September 21, 1928 - October 27, 2014

Pat was born September 21, 1928 to Georgia Mae and Paul William Smith at Mount Pleasant, Iowa. In 1948 she married school mate “buddy”, Dick Allen Willey. They left Iowa for Ukiah, CA and in June of 1950 moved to Pollock Pines and purchased and operated the Grand Theater. In 1958 Dick lost his life in the Ice House fire leaving Pat with 3 small children.

In 1962 Pat and R. Harry Herrington were married and divorced in 1966, remaining good friends over the years. In 1968 Donald Peterson, owner of Little Norway Resort on Echo Summit married Pat and daughter Christy was born.

Pat started her career in 1953 with the U.S. Postal Services as a part time clerk in Pollock Pines. In 1966 she earned the honor of Postmaster and retired with 35 years, 3 months and 3 days of service. While living in Pollock Pines she earned Honorary Life Memberships with the Pollock Pines, Camino Chamber of Commerce, the Soroptimist Club of Placerville and Pollock Pines and the California Chapter of the National Pony Express Association. A project she always had was helping the younger generation.

Pat is survived by her loving children, Karen Willey, Alan (Sheryl) Willey, Steve (Sue) Willey and the Late Christy Peterson. Sister of Dick (Linda) Smith. Beloved grandmother of Tonya, Paula, Tracey, Jessica and Joseph and great grandmother of 7.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11:00a.m. at the Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home, 2855 Cold Springs Rd., Placerville. Entombment will follow at Placerville Union Cemetery, Placerville.
