Matthew James Marques, 38, of Placerville, passed away on April 30, 2019 from complications related to a lifelong battle with a congenital liver disease. He was born August 1, 1980 in San Leandro, CA, son of Clifford and Brenda Marques. Matthew grew up in Placerville, a 1998 graduate of El Dorado High School.
Matthew was a passionate Red Cross Volunteer, opening shelters for displaced community members affected by natural disasters around the country. He was especially proud to have participated in opening and operating shelters during Hurricane Matthew in Florida in 2016. Matthew was also a passionate El Dorado County Search and Rescue volunteer. He enjoyed serving his community and making many friends along the way.
Matthew was preceded in death by his mother Brenda Marques and his older brother Jason Marques.
He is survived by his father Clifford, his older brother John King of Clayton, CA and his sisters Jessica Marques of Sacramento, CA and Michelle Aliski of Livermore, CA. Matthew is loved by eight beautiful nieces, Alyssa, Meagan, Katelynn, Aly, Cate, Marlena, Emma and McKenna, one amazing and charming nephew, Nic, three great nieces, Elyse, Scarlett and Hazel, and one great nephew, Jack.
His extended families in Hawaii were an extension of his heart, the miles never exhausting their love and aloha for the special soul Matthew was.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Matthew on May 10, 2019 at 11:00 am, at Chapel of the Pines, 2855 Cold Springs Road, Placerville, California, 95667. He will be Laid to Rest at Westwood Hills Memorial Park, next to his Brother, at a later date.
