Bruce Stamm is an amazing man. It is with a heavy heart, that we announce his passing at the age of 77 on August 25, 2023 after his 8-year battle with cancer. His departure left huge holes in the hearts of those who knew and love him – he will be greatly missed every day. He was an inspiration and blessing to the many lives he touched and was a brilliant man while he was here with us on this Earth.
Even as a child, Bruce had a very strong personality, which suited his aura and presence wherever he went. He was a man of great intelligence and integrity. He was an amazing father loved deeply by his children. He raised them to be strong, loving, authentic, and to know the difference between right and wrong.
Bruce was a Veteran having served in the Vietnam War after enlisting in the US Navy after high school. He grew up in the South Bay in Northern California and returned there after he left the Navy and worked for his father at the family business (Standard Oil / Chevron service station). He was a master electrician after spending almost 50 years in the trade. His family time included activities such as travelling, going to the beach (he would skin dive), road trips to visit extended family, and camping.
Bruce enjoyed a variety of hobbies but loved to spend his time in his workshop rebuilding/restoring classic hot rods or street rods. He spent most of his time there after finally retiring at 70 years old and had his long list of projects. He really enjoyed working on the classic cars and could fix just about anything.
He is preceded in Heaven in his direct lineage by his parents, Ira and M. Elaine Stamm. Other extended family members also will welcome him in the Lord’s Kingdom. Bruce’s remaining family are his children from his first marriage: Roy McAlister, Tami Stamm, Tifanie Hayden, and Michele Kraft along with his wife and child from his second marriage: Rachelle Stamm and Nathan Stamm. Bruce also had 10 grandchildren at the time of his passing. Bruce’s sisters are Janet Pope and Kristi Jones.
When thinking about him and missing him, a couple phrases Bruce used on occasion that come to mind in facing some of life’s daily challenges...
• “You made your bed, so sleep in it.” (Reminds us to face the circumstances we create for ourselves...to persevere.)
• “You mess with the bull; you get the horn.” (Be thoughtful of your decisions as a bad one will bring consequences.)
• “Don’t lie!” (Bruce despised liars, so he reminded us to always be honest and tell the truth. He said that truth doesn’t change, so it’s always easier to remember.)
• “You’d better pack a lunch; it will be a while.” (He said this when others (especially his children) offered to best him in a challenge.)
