Joan Mildred (Beilhart) Fedor passed away on July 31, 2023 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late Frederick A. Fedor, loving mother of Rachel (Jason) Lubbert, Andrew Fedor; grandmother of Kersten, Samantha, Troy and Max; daughter of the late Karl and Vera Beilhart; sister of Janet (Leo) Goubeaud and Karen (George) Stipetich; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Joan was born on July 1, 1945 on her mother’s birthday. She attended Scott High School in North Braddock and spent her life as a faithful wife and mother. Joan made her home a warm, cozy place that always smelled of fresh baked goods. When she wanted to make sure her family knew she loved them, she baked and cooked for them. One of her favorite things to do with her grandchildren was baking cutout cookies for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter and sometimes just because. Joan was a thoughtful and caring person who enjoyed making everyone’s favorite desserts and always made sure there was something chocolate for her son-in-law, Jason. She loved making Apple Danish, Texas Sheet Cake, Strawberry Salad, Lemon Glow, and fried fish sandwiches. She almost never arrived at a party without several desserts and, of course, her famous cheese ball with savory onion crackers. Joan loved good food and worked as a cook for much of her life. She loved volunteering with her sister and making delicious dinners for those staying at Family House.
Joan always loved planning outings and events. One of her favorite things to do with her kids was riding the Thunderbolt at Kennywood and getting Potato Patch fries. Joan and her sisters loved being together, and their favorite times were spent talking over coffee, tea and dessert.
In addition to her family, Joan found strength in her relationship with the Lord. She got saved on April 15, 1973 and wanted to tell everyone about the Lord, so they could find the same happiness she had. She was the first one to tell her little sister about her new-found faith. In her later years, she spent a good part of the day praying for her family, reading her devotional books and the Bible. One of her favorite verses was Galatians 2:20: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
Friends and family are welcome on Thursday, August 3rd from 1:00 – 3:00 and 5:00 – 8:00 PM at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, 1032 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 AM. Private burial to follow.
