Edward Woodside Baker - Age 92, of Pittsburgh, PA, peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the Delaware Valley Veterans Nursing Facility. He was born on June 21, 1928 to the late Edward Baker and Anna Woodside. He was proceeded in death by his loving wife Nancy (Pellegrini) Baker his daughter Elizabeth (Baker) Purvis and his son Jonathon Edward Baker.
He was the sweetest grandfather to Gina Cirrincione and Katie Falbo who he took immense pride in all their accomplishments. He will also be missed by his son in law Rodger Purvis.
Friends will be received on Saturday March 27, 2021 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home 1014 California Ave. Pittsburgh Pa 15202 where a blessing service will take place at 12:00 pm followed by military honors at Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Cemetery.
Ted was a devoted Catholic and a longtime member of The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Mary in Bellevue, PA, and a proud World War II Army Veteran. Ted graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1950 and was the President of his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
Ted loved to sing, dance and laugh. He was always very cheerful and jovial. When he wasn’t singing or dancing, you could find Ted watching Fox News with a cup of black coffee and a sweet snack.
Ted will be remembered fondly for his devotion and love for his family. He spent his retired years serving the mental health community in Pittsburgh.
Ted thoroughly enjoyed the company of animals, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ted’s name to the Humane Animal Rescue Shelter: Tribute Donations (givebutter.com).
In honor of Ted, the family is encouraging guests that will be attending to wear blue. That was his favorite color.
