Dorothy (Wagner) Dickson, age 93, of McCandless Twp., went to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 19, 2020. Born February 6, 1927, in Etna, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Anastasia (Schmidt) Wagner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James S. Dickson; and 5 brothers; Albert, Charles, Joseph, Richard and Kenneth Wagner.
She is survived by two daughters and sons in law; Deborah and Tim Dutrow of New Columbia, PA ; and Barbara and Bill Bain of Economy Borough, and one sister, Bernice Diegelman. “Grandma Dot” was the proud grandmother of 4 grandchildren, Megan Dutrow Heistand (Jim), Drew Dutrow, Brian Bain (Laura) and Kate Gray. In addition she was blessed with 8 great grandchildren; Mallory and Macey Heistand, Troy, Levi, Weston, and Clark Bain, and Talia and Nehemiah Gray.
Dorothy graduated with honors from Etna high school and worked as a secretary at the H.J. Heinz Company for several years. In 1947 she met her future husband James Dickson at a dance at West View Park. They married in December 1949 and celebrated 67 years of marriage.
Dorothy enjoyed many years as a homemaker and stay at home mom. She loved cooking, baking, entertaining, reading, bridge club, and gardening. Dorothy and Jim were active members of Northmont United Presbyterian Church for 60 years. She worked on many Triangle class activities, and was active in Presyterian Women, Northmont Bridge as well as numerous church dinners, corn roasts and other church functions. Her church and her church family were at the heart of her spiritual and social life.
Above all of these interests her very highest priority was her family and her greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored. With her children and grandchildren she enjoyed baking Christmas cookies, playing board and card games and vacationing. In her later years, just watching her great grandchildren grow, play and giggle gave her great enjoyment.
