Ramona Gonzalez

Romonita Morales was born on August 9, 1927 to Jose Morales and Juana Gutierrez in Arecibo Puerto Rico. She accepted Christ at a very young age and was a faithful follower of our Lord and Savior. It was in Puerto Rico where Romonita met the love of her life, Angel Gonzalez. In 1951 they married and later relocated to New York.

Although limited in her education as a child, Romonita was an astute business woman and managed a successful company; G&G Sportswear. There was no doubt that this is where she obtained her savvy sense of skills of negotiating and striking deals. One such event as the family recalls is when Romonita happened upon an owner putting up a “for sale” sign in the front yard. She immediately stopped and approached the home owner and negotiated a price and the sale of the house. She then returned home to Angel and said, “Honey pack your bags, I just bought a house”.

Angel knowing how his wife operates, he just responded with “ok”.

Romonita and Angel journeyed on many adventures throughout the years, but nothing gave them more pleasure then the birth of their four daughters; Janet, Gladys, Sonia and Daisy. They eventually moved to California and made a home in Bell. A close family member said that Ramonita “was the most caring and loving woman, that he had ever met next to his own mother”.

Romonita is survived by her husband of 66 years Angel Gonzalez, four daughters, Janet Salazar, Gladys Pelayo, Sonia Zavala, Daisy Gonzalez; six siblings, Jesus (Chu) Morales, Milligros Rivera, Juanita Macias, Carmin Perlaza, Zorida Picon, and Jose (Chieto) Picon. In addition she leaves behind three son’s in law; Pete Salazar, Jorge Pelayo, Ramiro Zavala, twelve grandchildren; Alfredo Franco, Christopher Franco, Jennifer Delgado, Jorge Pelayo Jr., Jonathan Pelayo, Joseph Zavala, Matthew Zavala, Julissa Zavala, Richard Martell, Leticia Curumaco, Pedro Dominguez Jr., Daniel Dominguez and six great grandchildren; Sasha, Leo, Gavin, Elijah, Juliet, (and soon to be Haley) and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and extended family members.
