Madge was born in Pickens, South Carolina on January 6, 1934 to the late Grover and Winnie Lee Nix. She traveled the country as a military wife with five young boys before returning to settle in Pickens County. Madge worked for many years at Buck’s Drive Inn restaurant, where she made many lifelong friends. She was also a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church and so appreciated all of the prayers and cards she received from church members over the years. Madge always ensured her sons knew of her love of God and encouraged them in their faith. She prayed many prayers over her friends and family. Madge enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, and the mountains of Cashiers, North Carolina.
Madge is survived by five sons: Randy Shivers, Bill Shivers (Jeanean), Greg Shivers (Mary), Brian Shivers, and John Shivers (Sandra); three grandchildren: Danielle, Sally, and Jason; two great-grandchildren: Jaden and Javen; one special niece: Jenny Finley (Billy), who was like a daughter to Madge.
In addition to her parents, Madge was preceded in death by her loving husband: Edward Shivers; three sisters: Monty, Nelle, and Margaret; and one great-granddaughter: Venelope.
