Mr. Lawrence Wayne Hooper

Wayne was born in Jackson County, North Carolina on December 15, 1940 to the late Davis and Mable Wachob Hooper. He enjoyed being outdoors where he would spend time farming, gardening, fishing, bear hunting, and playing practical jokes on anyone he could. Wayne loved going to his church, Life Church in Dacusville. He was a Veteran and served in the Army where he was a RA Arty (Nike Missile). Above all else, he loved his family, and would often ask about his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Wayne is survived by 7 children: Eric Hooper of Clinton, JoAnn Steinseifer of Easley, Kenneth Hooper (Gina) of Powdersville, Brian Hooper (Candice) of Charleston, Patty Stenger of Liberty, Tara Johnson (Micah) of Easley, and Sonja Green (Katrina) of Charleston; 9 grandchildren: Candace, Christine, Stanley, Derek, Amanda, Nicholas, Job, Ariana, and Chase; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: James Hooper and Frank Hooper; and 1 sister: Mary Wyatt.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his loving wife: Nancy Hooper; and 2 brothers: Gordon Hooper and Huey Hooper.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Internment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM prior to the service.
