Six Mile, SC – Mr. Daniel Moody Smith Sr., age 82, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 8, 2022. He was born in Gumlog, Franklin County, Georgia and was the son of the late Rev. Frank and Virgie Smith and loving husband of 64 years to Jimmie Lucile Merck Smith.
Surviving are sons Daniel Smith Jr. (Kim) from Irmo, South Carolina, Darrien Smith (Tonya) from Greenwood, South Carolina and David Smith from Greenwood, South Carolina. Surviving is his sister Frances Smith Spearman (Johnny) from Westminster, South Carolina. Also surviving are eleven loving grandchildren and twelve most precious and loving great grandchildren.
Mr. Smith was predeceased by sisters Sue Stowe, Mary Nell Smith Hambrick and Lillian Lee Smith.
Mr. Smith attended Ridgeland Drive Baptist Church in Six Mile, South Carolina where he was a faithful member. He served both in the United States Air Force and with the Georgia National Guard. Mr. Smith was a welder by trade working in industrial construction but his first love was his family and the outdoors. He was an avid hunter of the whitetail deer and spent his Falls bowhunting. He enjoyed crafting leather and woodworking.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel 2402 Gentry Memorial Hwy Pickens, South Carolina 29671 with a visitation that same day starting at 1:30 PM to 2:45 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pickens, South Carolina. The Reverend Tim Friar and Reverend Mark Spearman will be officiating.
