Easley – Brandon Reed Hammond, 21, went home to be with The Lord on Monday May 15, 2017 after a life long battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Brandon was born in Greenville County, son of Gregory Keith Hammond and Deborah Shipman Weiss. Brandon was reared in the home of his grandparents The Reverend Leon and Edith Shipman. Brandon touched many lives including being an honorary member of the Belmont Fire Department in Greenville County and attended Harmony Baptist Church. Brandon loved life and was admired by his family and friends. Because of Brandon’s optimism and cheerful spirit he never complained about anything in life, including his illness. He was easy to love because he loved life and wanted the very best for everyone. Survivors include his grandparents Reverend Leon and Edith Shipman, father Gregory Keith Hammond, his mother Deborah Shipman Weiss and step father Scott Weiss who was also his dedicated nurse. Dedicated caregivers include Aunt Donna and Uncle John Smith and Cousins Karla Johnson and Kayla Smith who were instrumental in his care. Also surviving is Grandmother Mary Hammond and Uncle Stanley Hammond whom Brandon loved dearly. The family will receive friends at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 1:30 to 2:45 PM with funeral services following in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 PM.
